Singer-songwriter Becky Hill has come a long way since reaching the semi-finals of ‘The Voice’ as she took the enormous Ovo Hydro by storm!

The crowd, buzzing with anticipation and a mix of generations, included many who brought their daughters for their first concert. It was palpable that everyone was there for an amazing night, complete with various merchandise, including glow sticks and flashing props!

As the night began with a blackout that transitioned into calm lighting, creating an ‘Abbey’ atmosphere, Becky took the stage to echoes of cheers from the crowd, shortly followed by her backup singers.
Opening with ‘True Colours’ from her recent album ‘Believe Me Now’ was a powerful choice. She then took us back to 2013 with her hit with Oliver Heldens, ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’. While this song got Glasgow moving, it was unfortunate that Becky was distracted by an issue with her in-ears, which had become tangled in her stunning corset outfit. Despite this, she handled the situation remarkably well, continuing to sing while her unmistakable vocals shone through.
Returning with a bang for ‘Last Time’, Becky sounded phenomenal and exuded much more energy—perhaps it was the relief of untangling her outfit or the improved sound quality from her in-ears. Whatever the reason, she gave it her all, effortlessly hitting every note with her powerful, unique tone!

Transitioning from one hit to another, she delivered one of the best setlists a Becky Hill fan could imagine, featuring huge anthems and fan favourites like ‘My Heart Goes (La Di Da)’, ‘False Alarm’, and ‘Back and Forth’.
A standout moment for me was ‘Outside of Love’. It was spine-tingling to hear the crowd nearly overpower Hill’s vocals, singing along as she soaked up their love and attention. Near the end of this song, she turned things up, asking, “Glasgow, shall we spice things up a bit?” The atmosphere was electric, reminiscent of a friend’s GBX house party!
Becky wasn’t alone on stage; her backup singers, drummer, and a brass and string section added rich layers of sound, filling the vast indoor venue. Particularly during ‘Lonely Again’, the brass during the verses and the strings in the pre-chorus sounded stunning, adding a wonderful creative flair to the dance anthem.

A clear fan-favourite moment came when she introduced ‘Afterglow’: “Glasgow, shall we play the song that came out before any other song…the one I wrote when I was 18 and released when I was 19?” The crowd erupted in cheers of anticipation, and it was visibly a proud moment for her as she sang.
While I don’t think Becky ‘performed’ in the traditional sense, she commands the room effortlessly with her impeccable vocals, never missing a note. Her rich voice captivates everyone, whether she’s ‘performing’ or simply doing what she does best: singing beautifully.

Becky also made a strong effort to connect with her fans, moving from the stage to a smaller rotating platform at the back of the venue. Accompanied by pianist Claire, she performed ‘Man Of My Dreams’ and ‘I Could Get Used To This’. Even in such a large venue, this intimate moment felt incredibly special.
One question I’d love to ask Becky if I ever meet her is how she manages to hit those notes in a corset! The power and falsetto she showcased were unreal, beautifully complemented by the harmonies of her backing singers.
As the night continued, fans received extra treats with a new unreleased song called ‘Lost The Plot’, and a special performance featuring guest artist ‘Rileasa’ on ‘One Track Mind’.
With only about 30 minutes left of the night, Becky took a moment to express her heartfelt gratitude, sharing her dreams and emotions:
“Glasgow, thank you so much for tonight. I’m struggling to take it all in. I’ve played this arena a few times with Pete Tong, and I always looked around and thought, ‘Wow, there are so many people; I can’t believe I only get three songs.’ I used to stand there and say, ‘One day I’m gonna have my own show in this arena.’ And I haven’t just had my own show here—I’ve sold every ticket! I think this year has been incredibly tough financially for many, and to sell 13.5k tickets during a cost-of-living crisis is heartwarming and humbling. I can’t find the words, but what’s happening here tonight will stay with me until the day I die, and I can’t thank you enough.”
As she shook her head in disbelief, the crowd showered her with applause and encouragement.

The reason this powerhouse managed to perform 25 songs in one night without even an encore is that she kept going—and I honestly have no idea how she does it! She clearly has an incredible set of lungs, singing her heart out as she wrapped up with her favourite from the album, ‘Swim’. You could see she was completely in the moment, dancing and singing even during the instrumental breaks. Finally, ending with ‘Remember’, she sent Glasgow off in style, saying, “Glasgow, thanks so much for making my dreams come true.”
