Maisie Peters made her Aberdeen debut with a duo of intimate shows in partnership with Assai Records. Yes, there was so much demand, they had to put on an extra show. This was the beginning of a run of shows across the UK celebrating the release of her ‘most cohesive’ album yet, ‘Florescence’, which is due to be with us on May 22nd. In the beautiful setting of the Priory, once a church and decorated to give a cozy setting, fans were treated to an evening of stripped back tracks and an insight into Maisie’s musical world.
Maisie opened with You You You before launching into Say My Name In Your Sleep which she wrote with the one and only Marcus Mumford. Body Better was our first venture into her back catalogue and went down very well with her enthusiastic fanbase. Another highlight from her promotional singles has been Kingmaker, her collaboration with Julia Michaels, and already looks to be a new fan favourite given reactions from the crowd.

Then it was time for some ‘magic tricks’ in the form of set changes/band member movement and some Q&A provided by pre-submitted audience questions. These covered a range of subjects from wedding invites and her love of Tunnock’s Tea Cakes to ‘F***, Marry Kill’ with tracks from the new album. For those wondering she would F*** My Regards, Marry Mary Janes and Kill Flat Earther (only due to the subject matter, it’s still a fantastic song). This was a special addition different from just a regular set of songs, bringing fans closer into her world and giving some individuality to each event.

Following the Q&A, Maisie stripped it back even further with an acoustic version of Glowing Review before previously mentioned ‘anthem for the delusional’, Flat Earther which brought back her full band. History of Man was another special moment, with the audience hooked on every line before My Regards brought the house (church) down as the final song of the set.
Maisie Peters continues to hone her writing skills and building her fanbase whilst remaining relatable and down to earth. From the album tracks heard so far, there’s no doubt ‘Florescence’ will be an outstanding success. ‘Meet you all at the Tunnock’s Factory!’
‘Florescence’ will be released May 22nd.
