Glasgow scene legend Nathaniel Lue has made a swift pivot with his latest band that leans all the way into Skramz, Bearhug. Their new single, “Flowers”, is a loud, brash and angsty roar that’s bound to become a scene classic, if it isn’t one already.
Bearhug have made their presence known, with only one single under their belt and hopefully plenty more to come, they’ve proven the scene is not dead, in fact it’s more alive than ever. Released on the “Twenty Twenty Four Split” with Birmingham based band Snooker, “Flowers” is a stand out track that cements Bearhug as an act to keep your eyes on.
Coming in at just over two minutes, “Flowers” wastes no time in setting tone, kicking off with a fuzzy intro that’s immediately undercut by heavy guitars and rapid drum hits. The best parts of the song, in my opinion, are when vocalist Nathaniel Lue slows the tune down a wee bit, going in a bit of spoken word. The song picks right back up as he begins to scream over the hectic sounding guitars.
If you’re big into Skramz and are craving something a wee bit more local, I highly recommend Bearhug.
