The Old Fruit Market hosted Scottish singer/songwriter Nina Nesbitt on 18th October for a breath-taking show of her new album “Mountain Music”.
The Old Fruit Market was bustling with excitement as the doors opened, tickets were checked and people surged in. Hours before, devoted fans had been waiting outside to see the Scottish singer.
With Nesbitt being back in her hometown meant only one thing: a full Scottish line up, first to take to the stage was Kerr Mercer. Having no songs officially released yet Mercer still arrived on stage with a kind, conversational demeanour and a powerful vocal performance that would make the likes of Hozier jealous. Soulful pop and alt-indie elements came together to create a unique set that was emotionally charged and told a story with every song.
Katie Gregson-Macleod was next to take to the stage with her beautiful single “Complex”. Gregson-Macleod quickly had the audience singing along and entertaining them with a lovely piano and guitar performance, all while bringing back memories of her childhood in Scotland.

When Nesbitt’s turn finally arrived, the lights went down and the audience began to applaud her opening song, “Pages,” from her most recent album, Mountain Music. The audience sung along, and love filled the space. Nesbitt engaged with the audience, sharing memories of her early Glasgow performances and her deep affection for the city that she has grown up in.
Seeing Nesbitt on stage and the crowd interacting with questions, laughs, and conversation was charming. It was made even more memorable for Nesbitt and the audience by her Scottish banter, which highlighted her much-anticipated homecoming. The solo artist wowed the audience with her commanding stage presence and infectious charisma. She performed brand-new songs like the well-known singles “Anger” and “Painkiller,” as well as a stunning rendition of the well-known Scottish classic “Caledonia,” complete with poignant lyrics that created an ethereal atmosphere as the audience held up their phones as torches.
Nesbitt’s band provided a lovely vocal layer as they performed the folk songs that comprise “Mountain Music” with her on stage. Having a sold-out UK tour that visited Glasgow, London and Manchester. The Nina Nesbitt Mountain Music tour is unquestionably one that should be attended.
