Singer-songwriter and producer Kohla just announced her debut album ‘Romance’, and released the lead single of the album, ‘Lovebites’! The album is set to be released on the 8th of September and this is a tasty teaser of what is about to come.
Kohla combines silky soft neo-soul flourishes with R&B-inspired beats, and ‘Romance’ combines the two fluently. Kohla’s sound is both melancholy old school and super modern, and gets delivered in a courageous yet delicate way. Single ‘Lovebites’ sets the tone with philosophical imagery about heartbreak, spirituality, and inner healing.
Kohla crafted a timeless and subtle alternative, electro-fused pop sound driven by a warm sonic soundscape and stunning vocals in its midst. ‘Lovebites’ is smooth and charming and slowly builds towards a warm and contemporary chorus. Think Nat King Cole, Frank Ocean and Lana Del Rey, and a bag full of uniqueness. Kohla operates within a genre I personally don’t listen to twice, but with ‘Lovebites’ she’s written a song that I want to listen to over and over again.
The album will be celebrated with a full band album release show at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh on the 9th of September and tickets are available now!
