Single Review | Emerald Sunday | Psychos and War Machines

Psychos and War Machines – the brand new single from Emerald Sunday. Available to stream now.

Dundee rockers Emerald Sunday have made their first release of the year today with their new single ‘Psychos and War Machines.’ The six-piece formed 15 years ago and have released three albums so far, now they are ready to usher in a new era.

The verses of ‘Psychos and War Machines’ deal with the darker side of politics and the conflict this causes. Turning on the news and seeing dishonest politicians, the seemingly never-ending cycle of depressing news. The keys are dominant through these verses, they provide that sense of foreboding that go with the lyrics.

With the chorus comes the hope of better days ahead. The lyrics talk of escaping into the light where ‘nobody can ever hurt you again’. The heavy guitars and the incredible vocals of Mike Martin provide a sense of power against the negative themes of the verses. It’s a chorus you can shout at the top of your lungs, that makes the hairs on your arms stand on end. It’s a big track with an equally big message to go with it.

I caught Emerald Sunday live in Dundee back in February and thoroughly recommend checking out a show. After recent shows in Liverpool and Glasgow, the band’s next show is at Bonfest in Kirriemuir. I expect there will be plenty more to come from Emerald Sunday this year so make sure to follow them on their social media pages, which you can access from the links below.
