Single Review | Blair Davie | Found My Person

Found My Person single artwork

A gorgeous melody which accompanies poetic and purposeful lyrics

Following on from previous singles ‘To Miss You‘ and ‘Lovely‘, Blair Davie returns with their latest addition, ‘Found My Person‘. The two mentioned singles have had success so far with features in playlists and notice from BBC Music Introducing and BBC Sounds. This latest track continues to push Davie’s talents into the world, showcasing their incredible abilities as a singer and songwriter. The release of ‘Found My Person‘ allowed Davie to announce their new EP “It’ll Be Lovely” which is set for release on September 13th 2023.

This simple but sweet track is shorter than the average at 2:50 but there is a lot packed in. It is an incredibly well constructed and produced track, every beautiful word that Blair Davie sings can be heard clearly. Emotion and passion are common throughout the track, and the concept is one that can be universal and interpreted in a range of ways.

The idea of finding your person can be platonic, friendship, or even relationship related. As Davie sings, it is clear their take on this concept leans towards the latter option. However, whatever your situation, the concept of finding your “person” will be unique to each listener. The main point is that you find someone who makes you feel happy, perhaps they share interests with you, and someone you can connect with on different levels including emotional connections.

Davie portrays their terrific talents in this tune through a gorgeous melody which accompanies poetic and purposeful lyrics. The line, “I come alive when I see you smile“, opens the track and leads into a series of wonderful words. “I’ve found my person in you” ends each memorable and catchy chorus. Lyrics also discuss not needing anything other than the person you see yourself in, “I’m home with you and that’s everything“. Within the bridge, Davie’s lyricism paints a precious picture, “if I could freezeframe this moment, press pause and then own it“. For all of us, there will be a moment with someone, not necessarily romantic, we wish we could keep with us.

The honest, all too real, and enticing words make for peaceful and reflective listening. Even if you haven’t yet found your person, this song provides a hopeful and warm feeling. It will have you revelling in romantic reassurance.

The concept of their upcoming EP has been described as “self-discovery and realisation” and this new song perfectly shows this. It is a song that will connect with a huge audience on so many different levels. It will have you hitting repeat just so you can fully take in the immense and intricate work that has been done. You can see Blair Davie perform this song as well as their other amazing tunes at this year’s Sziget Festival on August 13th.
