Juan from the brilliant Rock band Quiche joined us and answered a few questions about the band’s inspirations, their early days and future plans regarding new music.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

Fair pay for streams!!!

What or who got you into music?

Been into it since I was really young, always loved it. My parents showed me a lot of 60s and 70s rock stuff

If you could have 3 musicians, dead or alive, headline a festival, who would it be?

Queen, Bowie, and Nirvana!!!

What is your dream gig venue?

Would love to play at the Barrowlands!

If you had to describe the Scottish gig culture in 3 words, what would they be?

Booze. Pits. Good Vibes.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Stu Mackenzie (King Gizz) love his production and writing style, I would learn a looot from him.

What plans do you have for any new releases such as videos or gigs?

We have a bunch of songs and a video or two in the pipeline

What did you get up to during Lockdown?

Watched tons of movies and made 2 solo albums.

What is the first thing you’re going to do when you’re properly out of Lockdown?

Just have a normal day will do. Being able to sit somewhere for a drink or a meal and seeing my friends. In fact i’ll probably have a flat party, moved to a new place just before Covid and not been able to flex it.

What are some of your favourite up and coming bands from Scotland?

Savage Mansion, Book Klub, Slow Weather, Kubitaru, corto alto, Emme Woods, Lizzie Reid, Happy Tears, Stmartiins (rip), there are way too many talented people here!!!

How did Quiche start up?

Me and Jack met in uni and we instantly clicked musically and personally, we used to hang out all the time and sing songs with two part harmonies, Beatles, Mamas and the Papas. Eventually the rest of the boys joined (met through uni/mutual friends).

What’s a few songs that you listen to and think “God, I wish I wrote this”?

Save me by Queen. It’s epic as fuck and it’s beautiful and it’s all I ask from music really. Very passionate and romantic!

How do you think the gig scene in Scotland is going to look in 2021?

Everyone’s gonna be buzzing about gigs coming back and it’s gonna be mad!

For those who aren’t familiar with your music, how would you describe it?

Imagine Tame Impala and QOTSA had a child that was brought up by ELO.

What is the best musical advice you’ve ever been given?

Be yourself. Do what you like. If what you’re doing is good, people will come to you.

Check Quiche out on socials and support them!
