SINGLE REVIEW | WREST | A PERFECTLY SPHERICAL WORLD

Edinburgh folk rock band Wrest are able to capture the loneliness of the current global climate, whilst declaring the importance of keeping a level head on their new single ‘A Perfectly Spherical World’. The seemingly familiar and warm vocals accompanied by the soft plucking of a guitar which soon builds into a climactic rock landscape makes for an incredibly impactful listen.

With the introduction acting as a soft way of presenting the listener with the track’s subject matter which is handled with an incredibly respectable level of emotional candour. The track begins to pick up steam with the crashing drums and emphatic guitars making an appearance in order to match the building intensity of the vocals and when the track returns to its calming roots for the ending, we are left with a feeling of reassurance that has become synonymous with the band’s sound and general feeling.

It is safe to say that the Edinburgh lads have been on the rise since the release of their debut record ‘Coward of Us All’ in 2019 which garnered them great acclaim from the likes of the National and the Scottish Sun, with comparisons being drawn to the likes of The National. Frightened Rabbit and We Were Promised Jetpacks.
