Sonny Leto and his Funk Militia are back with a brand new track ‘Save Me’ which was set free to the public on 14th March. The Glasgow-based band is a 9-piece, and consists of Sonny Leto lead vox/ guitar, Daniel McBride on guitar, Kevin Mathieson on bass, Joseph Luke McGowan on drums, Ronnie Cocozza on saxophone, Mark Elwis trumpet, Steven Spence synthesiser, Oliver Prinn keyboard/backing vocals, and Ainsley Devlin backing vocals. Try saying all that in the one breath.

The power-group have recently sold out a hometown gig at Cumbernauld Lantern Theatre and if you weren’t able to attend, you’ve certainly missed out on a great night of music.

‘Save Me’ Artwork

The new anthem ‘Save Me’ starts off with a lovely little twinkly synthesiser with funky slap bass lines. Sonny Leto showcases his signature falsetto vocals throughout the song which is combined with a bouncy R’n’B drum pattern. The whole piece is caked in fantastic mash of keys, percussion, wind and string apparatus.

Closer to the end, you can see Sonny Leto dabbles in a spacey psychedelic rock sound with distorted guitars, sub-bass and flanger effects on the drums.

Three and a half minutes of pure groove gravy. Listen to it here-

If you like what you heard there, then be sure to jump along to Stereo on 29th May to see Sonny Leto share the stage with other amazing artist such as Static, Lil Bon and Poster Club.
