PREVIEW | TENEMENT TRAIL 2026

The annual festival for music discovery is back better than ever. Tenement Trail is here and ready to throw a renewed array of artists into your current rotation.

Hosted in several hot spot grass-roots venues, the festival is held yearly in Glasgow’s East End. The Barrowland Ballroom, St Luke’s, McChuills, Barras Art and Design (BAaD), Van Winkle and 226 Gallowgate are due to accommodate this year’s programme on the 10th of October.

Amongst the freshly picked line up, established band Baby Strange, are making their comeback to co-headline the festival taking the stage at the Barrowland Ballroom, celebrating ten years of their debut album, “Want it, Need it”. The group performed in the first year of Tenement Trail in 2013, rounding off their 2026 return in a one-off final performance.

Supporting grass-roots venues is at the forefront of the festival’s mission. Venue closures across Glasgow have been felt loudly by the community, presenting internal threats to the scene. The opportunity to play bigger stages, in the founder Chae Houston’s words (cited in the Herald), can draw in both local bands and those from outside of Glasgow “when they are starting to generate a bit of a buzz.”

Irish indie-rock band Cliffords are significantly a part of this calibre. Their performances at Glastonbury, TRNSMT, Latitude, and Reading & Leeds have propelled them into the public eye, gaining wider recognition across the UK. They are set to play under the glimmering Barras mirror ball alongside The Ninth Wave, Heidi Curtis, Supersun and Leisureland.

Closing the BAaD, we have our other co-headliner Brógeal, who are a popular folk-punk band, closely associated with the Pogues in their Rolling Stone interview in 2025. The five-piece group from Falkirk marked their careers starting out in their local area playing their first single in 2025, later playing a series of shows at McChuills and evolving to festivals across the UK and Ireland.

Their recent appearances at Kendal Calling and Neighbourhood Weekender have shot them up to the top of the bill. The BAaD stage will also invite Dice, an Australian rock band recently venturing into the UK through their headline show in London. Joined by Pixie McCann, Tom A Smith, The Paris Match, The Joy Hotel, Little Grandad and Boxing Club.

Choosing between artists will be a hard feat for fans, considering the interim set times. However, a single ticket grants access to freely roam between nearby venues to discover new sounds.

Barrowland 2 (the Ballroom’s more intimate space) welcomes Fatale, Heavy Skint, Ferguson Hi-Fi, Angelface, Paulie Swan, Conscious Pilot and features a secret set which will be thrillingly unveiled at the end.

The brand new Sentric stage at St Luke’s will host Willie J Healey, The Orielles, Makeshift Art Bar, Theatre, Slag, Quiet Houses, Bad Gravy and Compost Compost Compost.

The warm dimly lit 226 Gallowgate embraces bands Faeda, Pevova, Jack Torrance, Sally Stenning, Morgan Morris, Burglar, Dan Parks and Ewan McKenna.

Van Winkle, situated directly across from the Ballroom, invites Limonhead, Spanish Horses, Chancer, Maicín, Pyncher, Woody and People Pleaser.

McChuills are due to hold two secret sets to end the night, with Quality Control, Diva Down, Lupercalia, Oedipus and The Mama’s Boys, Sodakill and AKA to keep the anticipation high. After the daytime performances, the keen ticket holders can also have the option to carry on the night and join the afterparty with Dan South in St Luke’s!
