SINGLE REVIEW| KRUDDTHEGURU X SUPERMANN ON DA BEAT| DEADEND

The US rapper KruddTheGuru has collab-ed with Scottish South Asian producer and DJ Supermann on da beat. The phonk and techno inspired track, DeadEnd, dropped on 1 September.

This collab is a harmonic piece, Krudd’s post-punk vocals complimenting Supermann’s samples and beats. Phonk has recently grown in popularity as a hip-hop sub-genre, gaining more listeners every day.

A blend of influences can be heard in DeadEnd as the two artists bring their inspirations to the table.

KruddTheGuru draws ideas from artists such as Trae tha Truth, Kanye West, Travis Scott, Deniro Farrar, and Bones.

His tracks aim to connect with listeners as they carry deep messages. His latest release titled LifesAMess is based on the struggles of mental health and drug use.

Growing up in Southwest Baltimore, Krudd turned to music to keep out of trouble. Being a self-taught independent artist meant that his journey has not been easy. His determination and willpower have helped him push through as he continues to be an emerging rapper.

Supermann began his journey making beats in his room during the pandemic. He has since worked with artists across the globe and has gained radio play throughout Scotland, including BBC Introducing.

The multi-genre producer also works as a content creator to raise awareness of issues that people with disabilities face. Being disabled himself, he aims to show that disabilities won’t stop you from achieving your dreams, especially in a world of under-represented disabled artists.

Supermann’s erratic and fast-paced beats pair perfectly with Krudd’s strong vocals in DeadEnd. Adding in touches of angst with the electric guitar, the Scottish producer adapts his sound to suit this collab and Krudd’s style.

Fans of the phonk sub-genre will love this track – it is everything that it claims to be. Angsty, phonk-inspired and unique, DeadEnd is the song to listen to.
