EP REVIEW | NOISE | NOT UNTIL TOMORROW NIGHT

The tracks featured on ‘Not Until Tomorrow Night’, would not be out of place on any big indie playlist, and whilst there are moments which put in mind works of other bands, NOISE has a sound which is completely their own. Appearing to reference the classic Frankenstein, the EP opens with ‘Victor’ which was released as a single from the EP and very well received. Not surprising with the fast indie rock guitars and engaging changes of pace. A classic which would be well enjoyed live.

The subject matter and lyrics throughout the EP are meticulous, and the knack for this sets them apart from many other releases and artists they may come to be compared to. A mix of philosophical and cultural backgrounds in the band and a talent for storytelling makes this arrangement of tracks immensely engaging. When speaking on the EP, the band are quoted to enjoy incorporating well known tales in to their modern sounds.

“Our debut EP explored the link between nostalgia and the present”

“These themes are woven into retellings of classic novels such as Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray with a modern twist. The songs perfectly represent our musical ideals and we’re immensely proud of them”

Words from Band in Press Release

Following ‘Victor’ comes ‘One Year’ with slower paced romantic guitars, and ‘Take Me (Back To)’ featuring a snippet I am sure is from 1950’s film ‘Rear Window’, providing an interestingly eerie tone. ‘One Day at a Time (Part 1)’ has plucky guitars to fall through and a melody to get lost in. ‘Waltz’ has emotion and powerful guitar solos. Finally, ‘One Day at a Time (Part 2)’ closes the EP, with more movie snippets and raw guitars.

Throughout the whole EP, the sound of the guitar and vocals together is a familiar and welcoming indie embrace that is felt in indie classics, and harder to find in newer releases in the genre. ‘Not Until Tomorrow Night’ is a stunning debut from NOISE, showcasing intellect and talent, and a fresh addition to the music scene in Glasgow.
