Wojtek the bear have announced their third studio album, shaking hands with the NME. It is their third release on independent record label Last Night From Glasgow and is the first release since their critically acclaimed 2021 album heaven by the back door. The album was recorded with legendary producer Stephen Street, well renowned for his collaborations with The Smiths, New Order, Blur and The Cranberries.

Ahead of the release, the band have dropped lead single second place on purpose – a sentiment filled ode to changing perspectives of priority. Songwriter and vocalist Tam Killean explores the revelation of becoming a father and the accompanying mentality shift following the birth of his son: “I think at our core people are generally unintentionally pretty selfish, so it was really eye opening for me to have this innate feeling that there was this tiny person around now who I would literally do anything for.”

second place on purpose celebrates the beauty in putting others first. It is joyous, sophisticated, and beautifully gentle. Wojtek the Bear return with their smart casual indie pop “shaking hands with the NME” on 12th April 2024.
