SINGLE REVIEW | MOSAICS | WHOSE SIDE?

A new chapter for Mosaics

Mosaics are fife based indie rock band, from Kirkcaldy. since forming in late 2019, they have quickly built up a strong reputation across the Scottish music scene. Mosaics band consists of five members. Alex Wilson on lead vocals, Roy Jarvis on lead guitar, Jack Bryce on rhythm guitar, Duncan Lawrie on bass and Liam Napier on Drums. Now this new single sets a whole new tone for this band since they last released. coming in better, bigger, and louder than they ever have.

Background and early music style

looking back to their roots, Mosaics released their self-titled debut EP in the spring of 2021. that early record featured standout early singles like ‘Next to you’ and ‘Hula’, both of which were known for its lighter feel. since then they have continued to build up their reputation and momentum with high energy tracks and music videos which perfectly accompany this. In the autumn of 2026, the band decided it was time for brand new music – a decision that resulted in in their new single ‘Whose side?’ which changed the game entirely for their music.

Crucially, ‘whose side?’ marks their highly awaited return, especially given that they haven’t released in two years. As you begin to listen, your immediately met with its insane alternative feel and its heavily driven indie rock melody. because the track is so upbeat. built specifically to get crowds moving. Furthermore, to go alongside this brand new single the band self-produced and edited a dedicated music video for this release, directed by their lead singer Alex Wilson, which follows a short narrative including local Scottish actors and their lead guitarist Roy Jarvis. By taking this approach, the band helps promote their music in a highly creative way, cinematic way – opting for a short film approach to the video rather than a simple Performance.

Built for the stage

The track leans into a nostalgic 2000s indie feel. As a result, This single almost feels like a massive milestone in their career, marking their transition from bedroom production to a heavier, professional sound that is ready to hit the stage. Ultimately, Mosaics has evolved over time from their 2021 self-titled debut EP known for this lighter sunnier bedroom pop feel, to this heavier, arena ready rock. To celebrate this release, they are headlining Friday the 6th of November 2026, at PJ Molloy’s in Dunfermline.

This headline show will be massive for them. It is the proving ground for their new era. they have built this single from the ground up ready to be heard live, in the flesh. After all “whose side?” wasn’t built to live inside streaming platforms, it was made to be heard live. in a packed sweaty room. This isn’t just a band returning to the stage, it’s a band reclaiming it.
