Single Review | Hitlist | Beautiful Disaster

Indie prospects, Hitlist, are back with their second track ‘Beautiful Disaster’. The North-East band will look to follow on the success of their previous release ‘Dancing in the Rain’. Having already supported bands such as The Snuts, The Sherlocks, and Skylights, the band have gained traction locally, and with shows recently in Edinburgh and Leeds, it’s only a matter of time before Hitlist get the attention they deserve.

Starting soft with a sole electric guitar the track guides the listener to the story behind the track.

“I do everything but I can’t seem to trust her, I do everything but I can’t seem to satisfy her“.

The not knowing how to deal with a situation, so doing nothing, knowing that it can only lead to disaster is a topic I’m sure many can relate to. The track has a nostalgic feel to it reminiscent of the 00s. The awaited build brings in a burst of jangly guitar and impressive vocals from frontman Callum. A main feature is the melody woven through the track, it has a distorted yet dreamy sound to it.

“I don’t know what to do, it sounds like a beautiful disaster

As ever with Hitlist, the drums play a key role. The fill-heavy drums guide the song through the final breakdown and chorus which features another neat melody woven through. The track is impressive and feels very at home within the current guitar revival.

The band will have upcoming shows in Aberdeen, supporting The Capollo’s @ The Lemon Tree, and Glasgow on 25th May supporting The Kaves @ SWG3 Poetry Club. ‘Beautiful Disaster’ is the perfect addition to your summer playlists, check out the band’s socials for tickets and stream the track below!
