SINGLE REVIEW | BUSINESS AS USUAL | THE LAFONTAINES

Our favourite Scottish Rock & Rap trio, The Lafontaines are back with a BRAND NEW tune.

The boys may have kept us waiting five whole years for new music but they are back with a BANG! Business as Usual (Single) with an album to follow suit.

“No doubt about it, this song saved the band. It became the catalyst for the full album. It’s The LaFontaines summed up in 3:23 seconds. Unique, bold, and Scottish.  Back at it – Business As Usual.”

Well aren’t we all glad that it did. I think for a while fans were left wondering, what happened to The Lafontaines?

Having been a fan of the band for over 10 years I’ve seen them change and transform over that time from the rap boy, Light up the background days as a 5 piece band to what has now developed into a really dynamic and creative three piece.

So whether you are a die hard fan of the band been around a long time or new on the scene Business As Usual brings the same ‘Fonts sound we have all grown to love. Melodic and catchy guitar (Darren McCaughey) rock drum beats and solid vocals (Jamie Keenan), Scottish rap (Yes it is a thing!) by Kerr Okan. Kerr calls the track ; Unique. Bold. Scottish. There is no denying that.

If I can just be honest, I think I’d rather be on it. Nothing is real or what it seems. I’m living a lie but it’s a nice dream.

There has been so much love surrounding this track and it’s very well deserved. The Lafontines are a hard working outfit that have plugged away for over 15 years. The genre-bending band seem to have landed some of the coolest support slots over the years; Bastille, Deaf Havana, Twin Atlantic and Don Broco to name a few. Along with hitting up music festivals up and down the country. Day one fans will remember the Lafontaines Bus, must have racked up some amount of miles! They are one of the most hard working bands I know.

The talented and much loved three piece have worked together a long time, creating buzz and gaining a very loyal fan base which has been evident on the run up to the release of Business As Usual after a long period of quiet. If the rest of the tracks from the album are as powerful and punchy as Business As Usual, I’m buzzing for what is to come.

Let’s be honest though, there is one thing I need to know, when’s the tour lads? We all ABSOLUTELY love a Lafontaines live show, so much energy and connection with the band and fans. Hoping there are live shows to follow…

In all seriousness though, I’m delighted to see The Lafontaines back in action doing what they do best, bringing out absolute bangers.
