INTERVIEW | PEDALO: New EP ‘Delicate Thing’

It’s all coming up, Pedalo! With their new EP ‘Delicate Thing‘ arriving on June 11th, followed by what’s set to be a knockout headliner at the iconic King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, there is no better time than now to get them on your radar. Praised by Phoebe Inglis-Holmes and Steaphanie Cheape on BBC Introducing, as well as Up Late with Lynne Hoggan, you cannot miss this release.

What makes them so unstoppable? I was delighted to chat with Pedalo to ask some burning questions about ‘Delicate Thing’, what’s on their playlist and what’s next in 2026.

Hi Pedalo! Tell us who you are.

“Hello! We are pedalo, a 5-piece based in Glasgow! Although we have found our base here in Glasgow, we individually come from all over Scotland, from Stornoway to Aberdeen, and some of us a bit closer to home (shoutout to Kilbarchan). Just like our hometowns, our musical influences span a wide array of backgrounds, with our main influences coming from indie/dream pop, sprinkled with a dash of jazz, art rock and even some classical flair. We are made up of Charlotte (vox/flute), Beth (drums/vox), Nick (bass), Callum (keys/vox) and Calum (guitar). “

You’re set to release your brand new EP ‘Delicate Things’ on June 11th, followed by a major launch at the iconic King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on June 13th. How are you all feeling? What can we expect from a Pedalo live show?

“The ‘Delicate Thing’ project has been cooking for quite some time now. It’s been the best part of a year since we started writing some of the tracks, so we are beyond buzzing to finally get it out there. We’re extremely grateful to be celebrating its release at King Tuts, and have some exciting things hidden up our sleeve for the show, including exclusive access to our very first batch of physical prints. Our brand new vinyl will be available to purchase on the night. Copies include our latest release ‘Delicate Things’, our debut EP ‘ Migration ’, and single ‘She’s The Sun’. So far, the response to the EP singles has been overwhelmingly positive, so we cannot wait to bring them to life on the stage on June 13th.”

The cover art for both this EP and its singles is beautiful. Is there a story behind it? How do you want the audience to feel about this release?

“Thank you! Being an independent band, the best way we can reach people is with singles. To ensure we were communicating to the public that these singles were all part of a larger project, we decided to have a super coherent art style across each release. Aurore (Instagram: ptitficus) did a fantastic job referencing lyrics and themes across the EP in the artwork itself. We really appreciate the time and effort she put into the project, and we believe that the artwork really fits the vibe and feel of the music. We would love for our audience to take a closer look at the artwork and connect the imagery to the lyrics and themes!”

Pedalo have been no strangers to the radio recently, being featured on Lynne Hoggan’s Up Late and BBC Introducing, praising your track ‘You Might Be Right’ as an immediate submission. Where would you like to hear your music next?

“We are so grateful for the attention our latest track received online and over the radio. Our goal ultimately is to have our music reach and resonate with as many people as possible, so we are always excited whenever we hear our music on the radio waves. It’s always been a dream of ours to have our music picked up by Film & TV. We’d like to think our music has a cinematic aspect to it, and we often imagine how it would translate on screen. It would be very cool to have our music brought to life in this way.”

Your song ‘Picture It Backwards’ has made its way into my on repeat. Are there any songs right now you just can’t get out of your head?

“As polarising as it was upon release, ‘Going Shopping’ By The Strokes has been getting played almost daily since it came out. As distracting as the use of autotune is, the song is so much fun to listen to that I simply have to forgive it. It’s even made me go back and listen to The Strokes albums I know I love and appreciate the albums I never gave much of a chance upon initial listens.”

And finally, what’s next? We’d love to know what you have planned for the rest of 2026 and beyond!

“After the King Tut’s show, we have a couple of in-store record shows lined up! We’ll be playing HMV Inverness on the 20th of June and HMV Edinburgh on the 4th of July. These will be free shows during the day, where you will have the chance to see a rare stripped-back pedalo set! After that, we are getting our heads down and writing some new tunes for a project that is in its VERY early stages, as we clearly can’t give ourselves a break!”

Delicate Thing‘ is set to release on June 11th 2026. Tickets for their headline show at King Tut’s Wah Wah hut are on sale NOW!
