INTERVIEW | A BLETHER WITH JAMES POTTER | WALT DISCO

A big thanks to James from Walt Disco for taking the time to do a wee email interview about what he’s up to during lockdown and the reaction to their new single Cut Your Hair.

What effects has the lockdown had on you as an artist?

We’ve definitely improved our production skills which is really exciting, always wanted to be able produce our own music!

How have you taken advantage of all the free time?

I’d say so! Some days are tough but that’s fine, I think it’s important to not put pressure on yourself to create.

What’s your first drink at the pub when we’re allowed out?

Would be lying if I didn’t say a pint of Tennents, I do miss draught Guinness though.

What are you most looking forward to at your first live gig back?

Honestly everything! Even warm rider beer!

For those who aren’t familiar with you, how would you describe your music?

Glam Art-Pop is what we’ve settled on recently.

If you could cover one song, what would it be and why?

I really want to cover Mystery Of Love by Sufjan Stevens or Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell

What’s your favourite Scottish artists / bands at the moment?

That’s a tough question. One that all of your readers might not of heard of is The Homoromantics! I love them so much and I think they will go far.

What’s your favourite Scottish venue you have played at?

St. Lukes is amazing!

Describe the Scottish music scene in 3 words?

Talented As Fuck.

What do you think 2021 will be like on the gigging scene?

I hope all gigs will be rammed as we all miss them so much!

You have just released your new single Cut Your Hair, what’s the song about an hows the reaction been to it?

The reaction to it has been amazing!! We’ve described it as “Ok Boomer – The Musical”! So take from that what you will haha.
