Glasgow’s Dylan John Thomas well known for being mentored by Scotland’s famous Gerry cinnamon hits the big stage!
Having seen Dylan myself open for Trnsmt festival to playing the iconic well known Barrowland’s Ballroom and now the long awaited gig at the Hydro Arena. What a journey!
To start the night Murdo Mitchell opened the stage followed by the next support act Vistas, the arena was starting to get packed with fans from all age groups. If you have been to any Dylan John Thomas shows you will know ‘Carnaval de Paris’ by Dario G gets played just as Dylan enters the stage, which truly gets the crowd ready for the set ahead. Dylan comes on stage wearing his trade mark Fred Perry clothing as fans go crazy for this moment.
The young talent starts his gig off with fan favourite ‘Jenna’ as the beat kicked in so did the crowd, the Scottish musician known for his unique blend of folk and contemporary sounds, featuring his heartfelt lyrics with strong connections to his Scottish roots not to mention songs about his up bringing, his distinctive voice gets the crowd ‘bouncing all night long’ which is completely standard for any of his gigs. His songs and lyrics are perhaps relatable to so many growing up in working class Scotland.

Dylan played songs from his debut album such as ‘Feel The Fire’ and ‘Yesterday is Gone’ as well as doing a cover of sing along anthem ‘Mamma Mia’ by ABBA. He smiled all throughout his performance and you could see how much this night meant to him, from busking in Glasgow’s Buchanan Street to now playing a home town arena.
Talking personally from a fans perspective it has been a lovely and amazing experience seeing Dylan John Thomas go from smaller venues to now the Hydro. Dylan Truly put on an outstanding performance that the crowd could not get enough of.
