Edinburgh Fat Dads show

On January 20th, Carlisle based quintet Fat Dads will bring their infectious indie anthems to life in the Scottish capital. Forming the second date of their UK tour, Fat Dads will continue on from this Edinburgh show with a second Scottish date in Glasgow exactly a week later on January 27th. Having just completed a sold out show in Newcastle, the five-piece are proving how significant their impact can, and will be.

Fat Dads are a group who have a vast amount of accolades and achievements on their new journey already, which will only continue to mount up. In terms of live shows, the completely independent band have played slots at festivals including Kendal Calling 2023 and played a hometown set supporting Andrew Cushin.

Musically, the group are equally as successful. Within 48 hours of the release of their debut EP, 300 copies flew out, completely selling this record out. Their successes don’t stop there. Having only formed in 2023, they have already obtained a Top 20 iTunes single with their fifth release, ‘Girlfriend‘. Their first four released demos also gained them airplay on high profile radio stations, primarily Radio X and BBC Radio 1. In 2022, they were also added to BBC Music Introducing’s “Best of 2022” for Cumbria. Their easy to follow indie-rock tracks are mixed with elements of styles including DIY and Garage which adds to how widely accepted their music will continue to be.

Support

While being based primarily in Carlisle, the band have roots and connections in Wirral and Kirkcudbright. This makes them diverse in their audiences, much like the support bands chosen for this Edinburgh show. Two local groups form the support for Fat Dads: The Vaunts and The Balugas. Both supports are Scottish and have both played Sneaky Pete’s before, making this an exciting return to the iconic stage.

With Sneaky Pete’s playing host to three amazing bands, it is bound to be a night to remember. The vast array of talent on display will make it a gig you won’t regret attending and you will definitely find a new band to add to a playlist too!
