GIG PREVIEW | DEL WATER GAP | SWG3 WAREHOUSE | 04.02

Del Water Gap, the solo project of musician S. Holden Jaffe, will perform in Glasgow at the SWG3 Warehouse on 4th February, marking the end of the UK leg of the I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet tour. Having gained exposure by opening for the likes of Maggie Rogers and girl in red, Del Water Gap is making his mark in the indie rock scene with his second headlining tour. A solo project that in its origins featured Maggie Rogers herself, Jaffe has been making music as Del Water Gap since his days at New York University. I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet follows Del Water’s successful self-titled first record and singles such as ‘Lamplight’, ‘Hightops’, and ‘Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat’.

I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet was released in late September, followed by a domestic tour in the US before coming overseas. The album was produced by a range of well-known names such as Sammy Witte (Harry Styles, SZA, Halsey), Ethan Gruska (Phoebe Bridgers, Manchester Orchestra), and Mike Malchicoff (King Princess, Kanye West) and includes impressive features from Clairo and Arlo Parks. The essence of the album describes the turning point from existential dread to self-awareness and openness, with a candid perspective on intimate relationships. The way Jaffe expresses himself is poetical and experimental, both comforting and eye-opening.

Del Water Gap will be supported by LA-based artist Jean Ryden who is performing in the wake of releasing her debut record, Parallel Universes. Parallel Universes is self-written and co-produced, dealing with her personal experiences of loss and grief. Ryden was greatly influenced by classical music which is reflected in her performances, but she’s added her own rock spin while still sounding ethereal.

Jaffe told Vogue in September that they perform for the person in the audience who may be experiencing their first concert. “That is the responsibility we’re tasked with every show,” he says. “As a performer, you are potentially imprinting on someone that will remember this experience for the rest of their lives.” That simple aim ensures that a night at the SWG3 Warehouse with Del Water Gap will be truly memorable.
