Straight off the bat from their previous track Run Wild Fred, the Glasgow-based MANTEL are back with another brilliant single titled ‘Unstable Mabel.’
The rising alternative-indie five piece have been formed for little over 1 year, and have since played in multiple local venues across the Glasgow music scene including Mono, The Record Factory, and King Tut’s. Now with 3 singles under their belt, you’ll find that the new ‘Unstable Mabel’ is a new side to MANTEL.
Although indie & alternative is more their branded genre, Unstable Mabel features rhythm & guitars with hints of a country-swing, particularly in the second-half of the track. This tune is ideal for late night car drives, sunsets, and the perfect addition to your indie playlists.

In comparison to the quirky, upbeat single Run Wild Fred and the slower, more moving ballad Driftwood, Unstable Mabel has a more rhythmic approach but still consistent with the same down-to-earth lyricism as the rest of their discography.
The storytelling in this track illustrates a one-sided relationship, with one side fully committed and in love, and the other side gradually losing feelings and headed in a different direction.
The lyricism in the track itself pictures the small, every-day actions made that make the end of the relationship more evident. From leaving hot coffee cold, to showing up home late from work – this track illustrates the heartbreaking reality of a slowly fading relationship.
What’s next for MANTEL?
Their headline gig for King Tut’s Summer Nights is quickly approaching on Sunday 10th August, with support from Jack Hill, Esther’s Wife, and Lonely Daze. An after-party will also be held at Slouch bar following the gig.
