Single Review | Majesty Palm | Particular Feeling

Particular Feeling single artwork

Incredibly upbeat and mood uplifting, difficult not to hit repeat.

Particular Feeling‘ is the 5th single from from Glasgow duo, Majesty Palm and their 1st release of 2023. Cameron Robertson is responsible for the production and instrumental side of the duo with Olivia McCosh providing the vocals to go alongside this. If you’re not someone who looks primarily at lyrics, then this song still has an immense amount of positive points musically. At around a minute in, bass guitar is heard at the forefront, adding to the glorious groove of the song. Its infectious rhythm seems to inject a feeling of positivity.

This summer anthem was written, recorded and produced by the two talents of Majesty Palm. They have done this incredibly well. There is an element of nostalgia with 80s influence from artists like INXS and certain songs by the late Tina Turner. This is met with an incorporation of very familiar modern concepts from artists including Dua Lipa, Christine and the Queens, and even The 1975. There is so much to listen to without being overpowering, it needs a couple of listens to fully unpack it.

However, if you do like understanding the lyrics of a tune, then this track is also perfect for that. As the title suggests, there is a specific feeling that is being sought and/or felt. Every listener will see this slightly different. The words have been written by the Glasgow duo in a way that doesn’t say for certain what this “particular feeling” is. They also further add to this with the words “I can’t describe it, it won’t subside“. This helps the song resonate and relate to a wider audience.

Particular Feeling‘ has been released at the perfect time. The incredibly upbeat and mood uplifting tempo is perfect for summer. I can definitely hear this being played outside on warm summer days, and encouraging people to dance and move along with it. When the song is finished, it is very difficult not to hit repeat. This track has already had recognition from places including BBC Introducing and it won’t be long before they are one of the biggest acts in the Scottish music scene. It’s artists like Majesty Palm that make me feel proud to be Scottish and even more encouraged to promote their talents.
