Single Review | Bride | Tuesday Nights

Tuesday Nights single artwork

Musically and lyrically, very enticing.

Tuesday Nights‘ is the second single from 5-piece Inverclyde band, Bride. Bride have very quickly established themselves a secure place within the Scottish music scene even though they formed recently in 2022. The band are fronted by Caragh Power on vocals, Lewis Rorrison on drums, guitarists Charlie McQueen and Aeden McVey, and bassist Luke Harkins. Bride’s debut track ‘Lost Cause‘ was released in May 2023 and this latest one continues to show their talents as individuals and as a band.

Tuesday Nights‘ takes us on a journey of searching for a certain person in different environments. Bride have created lyrics in an adaptable way that will resonate differently depending on individual experiences. These are sang by Power in an almost haunting yet soothing way, reassuring us that this happens to many of us. “I thought I saw your face again, but it’s just my head playing pretend“. With versatile wording, this can fit any listener’s experience.

It’s as if this particular person’s presence will brighten up an average “Tuesday night“. The person we are imagining could be anyone from someone we miss, to someone we didn’t want or expect to see again. Lyrics also describe not only thinking you see a person, but also things they like, things they did etc. There are things like “cigarettes and silhouettes” that are all “reminding me of you“.

Towards the end of the track, there is a sense of acknowledgment and acceptance. We are accepting that the person we are imagining isn’t there. “It’s just another Tuesday night” are the words that describe this. Additionally, the song ends very calmly, adding to the feel of acceptance. Even though there is acceptance that the person isn’t there, this could be a positive or negative scenario. There is very open wording from Bride, opening the conversation for individual interpretation. Depending on specific circumstances, the listener can decide for themselves whether it being “just another Tuesday Night” is a good thing or not.

Bride are a band that I am certain will continue to release amazing music and achieve great things. Night Owl Music Promotions have added this track to their “Scotland’s Hottest Artists” playlist on Spotify. With so many new bands and artists releasing music, Bride have been able to retain a unique identity. ‘Tuesday Nights‘ is an amazing song and is musically and lyrically, very enticing.
