SINGLE REVIEW | HECTOR BOYS | SOMEONE ELSE

Glasgow based Indie boy band Hector Boys have returned with their latest single Someone Else, a poppy indie tune that’s bound to get you through the cold autumn months.

Having released their previous single Another Mistake only a few months ago the lads have been producing consistently great music the whole year.

Someone Else is equal parts catchy and witty. It sounds like it’s ripped right out of Vampire Weekend’s play book, a story of unrequited love with amazing hooks. You’ve heard something similar before, but never has it been done with this much flair.

The song kicks off with a drum fill that leads right into lead vocalist Adam McCormick’s first batch of sing-along lyrics. Throughout the song Adam makes his witty lyrical style known with my favourite lines being, “The older I grow, the less I seem to know” and “feelings turn to fever”. Someone Else is a song made to entertain and paint a story of woeful love.

If your a big fan of Vampire Weekend and The Kooks, give Hector Boys a chance. Their stylish take on the classic indie formula might just brighten up your day.

Someone Else will be available on all major streaming platforms from 27th September.
