Distant Images, an Indie pop-rock duo from Glasgow consisting of members Jilly and Macca, released their latest single titled ‘Chaos Silence’ on 15th March. The track is medium paced but progresses satisfyingly, familiar to Distant Image’s style. The song can be heard as a testimony to the human psyche, all set against eerie synths. The lyrics contain a kind of plea for someone to not let go, whether that be the singer begging someone else or speaking to themselves. The most significant lyrics to the song, I’m medicated from the pain / Chaos silence is what remains, relay the experience of living through something upheaving and lawless, and being left numb with only an awareness of what’s happened to you. Understood at this level, the song is powerful as well as being sonically compelling.
