SINGLE REVIEW | DAYTIME TV | ZOMBIE

Contemporary pop-rockers Daytime TV have dropped a brand-new single called Zombie.

Daytime TV is made up of Will Irvine (vocals & guitar), Chris Clark (bass), and Gareth Thompson (drums), who started out as critically acclaimed Scottish powerhouse Hunter & The Bear and had an incredible journey selling out shows across the UK. In 2019 they enlisted John Caddick (guitar) and began a new journey as Daytime TV. The new release is their first of the year and follows their 2020 single Side Effects.

Zombie is an adrenaline-fuelled banger, featuring fuzzy guitar riffs and thumping drums before we hear the mesmerising vocals. Irvine’s voice has just the right amount of depth and personality as he sings hard-hitting lyrics with an important message about human reliance on technology and the lack of social interaction that comes with it. Anthemic and captivating, the single showcases their skills both musically and lyrically, and ends with a massive guitar solo, what’s not to love? Irvine commented:

“Zombie is such an important song for us. It’s our comment on the state of society from a social perspective. The lack of human contact. Reliance on technology. Suppressing emotions. It’s left us all feeling a bit dead behind the eyes.”

Accompanying the new track is a self-filmed and self-directed video shot across three different locations in the UK where the band members are currently living. You can listen to Zombie here and watch the video here.
