Gig Review | Hinds @ Stereo | 3.02.24

Spanish rock band, Hinds, returned to Glasgow on the 3rd February to play a show at Glasgow’s Stereo. Scotland has always given the band a great reception, with them pointing out right away that one of their best gigs ever was in Glasgow. The crowd knew what to do and they delivered.

Supporting Hinds were two of Glasgow’s newest and finest of bands, Big Girl’s Blouse and Lloyd’s House. Big Girl’s Blouse are a punk rock band who formed in 2020 and released an EP in 2023 called Man Up. Lloyd’s House began in lockdown as a solo act, then when things went back to normal (well, normalish), the project grew to a five piece. They released their first full body of works as a five piece last year entitled The Masochist. Both bands provided a great opener and the crowd clearly loved them.

Hinds began with the care-free scuzzy-pop tune The Club, which was an amazing opener as it encapsulates the sound we all know and love from the band. The lyrics are full of attitude, but also hint at the kind of anxieties that are present in their other lyrics, “I know you don’t need a lover, but I don’t wanna go”.

The song ‘Burn’ was a definite stand out, as they dedicated it to the women in the crowd, encouraging us to be loud, to be seen and to have fun. Carollota and and Ana encouraged us to “fucking embrace being annoying and loud” and if anyone tells you you’re annoying, it’s on them, not you.
