Gig Review | Brooke Combe @ SWG3 25/11/23

It’s the night of Brooke Combe’s homecoming SOLD-OUT show at Glasgow’s SWG3 TV Studio. There’s already a buzz in the air as gig goers descended to the West End on this cold Saturday night. Tonight’s sold-out show has a capacity of 1000 people and honestly, I think Brooke underestimated herself, I have no doubt that she very well could have sold out an even bigger venue tonight.

First up on tonight’s line-up is Scottish alt-rock band The Rah’s. Despite having some technical difficulties at the beginning of their set, they produced a strong setlist to warm the crowd up. Their sound is a mix of rock grooves and solid guitar riffs with powerful vocals from the lead singer. I’ll be honest, the crowd let me down a bit for this first set as although the room was busy already, they were very quiet and not giving off the energy I felt The Rah’s deserved.

Next up was Ellur who celebrated her birthday with us Glaswegians! Ellur’s performance started off dreamy with flowing enchanting movements and a soft but powerful voice which led into a more energetic set with the crowd clearly enjoying themselves as they danced along matching Ellur’s energy on stage. The room erupted into “Happy Birthday” near the end of the performance, showing Ellur how great a Glasgow crowd can be.

Finally, the room was packed front to back waiting in anticipation for the star of the night, Brooke Combe, to take to the stage. With a Scottish flag attached to her microphone Brooke started off the night solid and got the crowd going. Although Brooke had to reschedule shows this week due to being unwell, you would never be able to tell with the powerful vocals and immense energy that she produced throughout her full set. Brooke’s set for the night included some of her popular hits “Talkin’ Bout Heartaches”, “A- Game” and of course her newest single “Praise” along with a crowd pleaser “Impress You” and of course “Are You With Me?”.

It was truly a special night getting to witness Brooke Combe’s homecoming sold-out show and the way the crowd were cheering, singing and having a right good boogie, I can only imagine that they would agree with me in saying that she done us proud. It’s amazing getting to see one of our own take to the stage and absolutely smash it the way she did. If you ever get the chance to see Brooke Combe, I would grab it with two hands because she is definitely going places and you will not be disappointed.
