Edinburgh’s own indie rockers Vistas have brought the tunes with their second single ‘Cut The Cord’ from their eagerly anticipated album of the same name. It’s a step away from their past albums including ‘Everything Changes in the End’ and ‘What Were You Hoping To Find?’, going from a brighter, more idealistic perspective to grittier and rawer tunes which only goes to showcase Vistas’s versatility. Despite the change, the quintessential essence of the band is still masterfully heard throughout the song.
Anthemic guitars immediately act as a splash of cold water to your face and paired with the punchiness of the drums, it awakens you to the brilliant world of Vistas. Dylan Rush’s expertise of the guitar really shines through in this track with mini guitar fills taking this track to the next level and ensures that you’ll want to keep coming back to it time and time again.

Prentice Robertson’s smooth vocals and his impressive falsetto, which is heard multiple times throughout the song, truly help to bring this piece together and makes for a pleasing listening experience. This is only furthered by the compelling chants of “cut the cord and I’ll say goodbye”, helping to truly hammer home the louder and mature side of the band as they step away from their comfort zone.
Short and snappy, ‘Cut The Cord’ is a fantastic next step for this young band and takes them in an exciting new direction which you can’t wait to discover more of!
The album ‘Cut The Cord’ comes out on the 29th of August so make sure you set your reminders so as not to miss this exciting new chapter!
