SINGLE REVIEW | THE VAN T’S | SEEING STARS

Indie rockers The Van T’s latest hit single ‘Seeing Stars’ is the grunge inspired anthem fans of the Glasgow music scene have been waiting for.

‘Seeing Stars’ firmly grasps the listener from the beginning with all instruments rocking in an introduction to the verse. We are then presented with their Pixies esque reverb-soaked spacey vocals, which ultimately from there on become the powerful driving force of the song.

Before we are graced with the melancholic and dreamy chorus, The Van T’s showcase their array of sublime vocal harmonising accompanied by steady pounding drums. Just as the listener is able to appreciate the perfected vocals, an overdriven chord progression is presented, driving the infectious chorus forward.

The Van T’s express a clear influence from grunge rock icons Wolf Alice and indie folk duo – First Aid Kit, mastering a perfect blend of soft warming vocals whilst also being able to blow the roof right off any indoor venue with crunchy distorted guitars and thumping drums. The bridge section presents a new element to the already fantastic display of ideas showcased in ‘Seeing Stars’, creating suspense and excitement of a final chorus.

The grunge inspired breakdown utilises the lead singer’s incredible vocal talent, complimented by the songs prominent reverb-effect chord progression played delicately and slowly. ‘Seeing Stars’ then bursts into its concluding chorus before returning to the same section that was introduced at the very beginning of the track before the first verse, excellently rounding the song together in perfect garage rock fashion.
