SINGLE REVIEW | THE RAIN EXPERIMENT | PATH OF OUR OWN

‘Path of Your Own’ is an interesting take on the classic indie special, a  Weekend anthem. This track wouldn’t be out of place at your local club’s indie night or on your favourite commercial alternative radio station. Yet there is a jangle pop element of the track reminiscent of an early demo of The Smiths. This helps it to stay refreshing amongst the countless indie bands.

The Rain Experiments sound also makes an impact in their own city of Glasgow choosing to follow what could be described as a ‘Path Of Their Own’, as the song states rather than being a punk or art-rock band. The track itself has some really great poetic imagery. The Rain Experiments frontman Cheggy has extremely interesting and raw vocals on this track. The instrumentals are interesting too especially on the build-up towards the chorus.

The track ends on a fade which is also an interesting and albeit unique choice. It does play up to the band’s more psychedelic influences. They are more than just a post-Arctic Monkeys indie band. Although their sound is still commercial enough to gain them future success.

Catch them at their residency at Box Bar.
