SINGLE REVIEW | THE LINES | LIPS

The Lines are a “post-Brexit, alt-rock sensation”, who have just released their new song, “Lips”. The first word that comes to mind when hearing this song is funky!!

From the outset “Lips” has your foot tapping. It’s a proper groove tune that is hosted by a cool bass line, guitar swells and a grunginess behind it that keeps it modern. The bass drum and symbol combination is magical and really keeps you staying until the end.

I’m hooked on the lyricism, there are some really interesting phrases in this tune that have stuck in my mind and won’t leave.

Such as:

“Power to the people and they just want more”

And…

“You haven’t left the party but the parties’ left you”

“Lips” is a crazy catchy, upbeat, fun tune that has a lot packed into it. Between the cool guitars, funky bass and layered phrasing there is so much to love. I’m getting a Scottish version of Madness kind of image when listening to this band. Definitely adding this song to all of my playlists!
