Single Review | Red Vanilla | All These Better Things

A powerful debut was made by Dundee alternative rock outfit Red Vanilla, who just released their single ‘All These Better Things’, which is taken from their upcoming debut EP ‘Days of Grey’! Their EP is due for release on the 7th of June and is promising to sound as ferocious and powerfully chaotic as ‘All These Better Things’.

The lead single of the band’s debut collection of songs is a rambling and riffing piece of refreshing alt rock driven by beautifully sharp vocals from singer and rhythm guitarist Anna. The single and video were released last month and amassed nearly ten thousand views on YouTube already, and I can see why! The official music video shows the band’s powerful and enigmatic live performance in black and white, and plays upon equally chaotic visual effects. It is one of not many music videos that embraces and amplifies the band’s message and ethos.

In their own words

“‘All These Better Things’ is a song that sums us up as a band perfectly,” says drummer George. “When we were recording the EP, our producer Kieran Smith asked if we wanted the EP produced like a ‘90s record, since the song writing is inspired by that decade of music. I said to him that actually it’d be great if he would produce it like a modern metal record, because we love the sound of the huge drums and more modern recording techniques.” I think they clearly found the right producer for the lead single of their debut EP, with it sounding balanced yet rambling, and chaotic yet smoothly finished!

Red Vanilla live

To celebrate the release of their upcoming EP, Red Vanilla will be playing a special hometown show in Dundee on the 8th of June. After having performed at Outwith Festival in 2022 alongside Fatherson and Pulled Apart By Horses, and previously having played with Reminders, Beach Riot, and Redwood, this show is promising to be another chaotic rock riot!
