If you know anything about progressive rock, then Steve Hackett‘s name is one that will probably come to mind. On Friday 18th October, he will bring his critically acclaimed skills and tracks from all areas of his musical career so far to life in a sold out Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall.

Steve Hackett is perhaps most memorable from his work in Genesis. Hackett completed the classic Genesis lineup alongside Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins. However his work in music extends way beyond that, and this extended musical career is what fans can expect to see live.

In 1985, Hackett joined forces with fellow guitarist Steve Howe [Yes] to create supergroup GTR. Alongside the likes of Max Bacon and Phil Spalding, the group were responsible for catchy hits like ‘When the Heart Rules the Mind‘. After one album, GTR disbanded but this only propelled Steve Hackett into other work. Other bands that Hackett has been part of include rock band Gordion Knot and The Prog World Orchestra. The latter saw him work alongside just as talented musicians including Mike Portnoy [Avenged Sevenfold].

Away from working in bands, Steve Hackett has release numerous solo albums. His most recent was release this year, “The Circus and the Nightwhale“. He has also worked with big names in music like Brian May, who cited Steve as an early influence, and Bonnie Tyler.

This Glasgow show is the perfect opportunity to see a musical genius perform live. You’ll get to see, and hear, sounds and techniques coined by Hackett, most notably the “tapping” technique. With a wealth of work in music, there will definitely be a song or two you’ll know and love.
