From a simple school rock band to a Saint Luke’s Headliner, you do not want to miss out on this local band.

Nova Scotia are a 4-piece band from North Lanarkshire, Scotland which take influence from various genres from heavy rock to jazz-funk, showing a clear use of musical experimentation and true unwavering boldness. Their diverse influences bring a sense of complexity, drive and freshness to the indie/alternative rock scene, and with their energising sound, enthralling melodies and addictive riffs they continue to prove their worth in Glasgow’s competitive music scene. Having already dominated large venues such as SWG3 and Scotlands most desirable King Tuts, Nova Scotia are already tanking through Glasgows music scene with attitude.

The newest and third single release from Nova Scotia is “Blue Tulips”. As the new single begins, we are met by an upbeat introduction featuring the whole band, which is later found to be featured throughout the song as the main chorus instrumental. The song abruptly dials back into the first verse, where the instruments hold back and we are left with a guitar melody and vocals. Straight away into the verse, the song begins to tell a story of pure, unfiltered devotion. The emotions run strong through the singing within the verses, before powering through into a catchy chorus which has a classic die-hard indie feel with the sound of Catfish and the Bottlemen and Sam Fender. The song powers on with strong, sincere vocals building up into a bridge which turns dramatically into a grunge-esque breakdown which is truly unforgettable. The sheer creativity of “Nova Scotia” both lyrically and instrumentally is completely undeniable, and “Blue Tulips” is a new release you want in your playlist for 2026. “What started as a guitar arpeggio in a music classroom, became intertwined with soppy but meaningful lyrics only days before recording.”- Nova Scotia

From classroom to recording studio, the talent of Nova Scotia to be able to unfold simple melodic guitar riffs into a complex, deep, and heartwarming love song is truly remarkable. Different from Nova Scotias previous releases, there is a clear, honest, and direct dedication for “Blue Tulips”. The newest single is greatly formed around a romantic partner, with lyrics that delve deep into the love towards them through incredible song-writing ability.

“I try my best always to reach out to an audience with songwriting, but if this was to be her song, I only had to reach out to one person. I gave up the overwhelming writing approach and stripped it back – basic, direct, but without loss of ‘hidden themes’ that can only be detected by myself and my girlfriend. A simple show of love riddled with inside jokes.” -Zak Aitchison, Vocals/Guitar

If you’re into catchy indie riffs, amazing big bridges, and screaming out a love song to your partner, “Blue Tulips” by Nova Scotia is your song. Give this Glasgow bands new single the recognition it deserves as this already locally commended as a two-time Battle Of The Bands winner, this talented group are only growing bigger as they take on the iconic King Tuts Summer Nights.
