Five slice Glasgow band Sister Madds dish out their debut EP ‘Are You Hungry?’ on February 27th. The band’s EP has four tracks on their platter plate which are ‘Table Manners’ which was their single release for the EP, ‘Get Rich, Get Girls, You’ll Be Happy’, ‘Nepobaby’, and ‘No Longer Leaving’.

They recently performed at a sold out King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut on 27th February, to celebrate their release of the EP with support from Alcatraz and Roller Disco Death Party. Sister Madds is made up of Maddie Cassidy on Lead Vocals, Mackenzie Burns and Fraser MacCallum on Guitar, Adam Clark on Bass and Ciaran Whyte on Drums.
The band’s first track ‘Table Manners’ starts with a incredibly captivating intro with their punchy guitar riff and drum battering. The song uses the idea of food etiquette as a metaphor to talk about modern day relationships. The tune definitely has they lyrics that are quite humorous when you dissect them. The band describe the lyrics as a witty take on modern-day online dating and a growing lack of humanity in the dating world. ‘Table Manners’ sounds quick, impactful and crams the two and a half minute with pure adrenaline.
‘Get Rich, Get Girls, You’ll Be Happy’ is the second track on the EP. The tracks starts as a voicemail and seems the character in the song has had enough of the man’s attempts with lines such as ‘let me sip my drink peace, stop wasting all your energy’. The verses sound tamer than the explosive chorus you hear and that could be a strong chorus to chant at live events of theirs.
‘Nepobaby’ is the third track in this lineup and I really enjoy this tune. The song is around nepotism as the title says and I’m sure a lot of folk have experienced this in their workplace for example. I’m into the crunchy distorted guitars and the loud shouting vocals. These tracks so far are very catchy and I will need to catch them live when I can.
The final song on the EP is ‘No Longer Leaving’ and from the get go the sounds are much more relaxed than the others before. I can really hear Kate Nash in this track paired up with they flourishing guitars and cracking bass and belting drums. This order of track list sounds perfect and compliments each other very well.
A fantastic band creating a fabulous strong debut EP, give it a listening to.
