Having previously released songs including ‘Haze’ and ‘Pandora’, the young Glaswegian rockers are back with their latest release ‘Save Me Now’ and it’s simply brilliant.
The slower start feels distant and almost cold but it gets you hooked instantly before the track fully lets loose. Punchy and frantic, the instruments come crashing in. Declan Allison’s and Finnigan Michael Togher’s guitars are the driving force behind the track, wailing and soaring, it’s apparent that they’re playing because they love it which makes listening even more worthwhile. Meanwhile Jakub Czajkowski’s drums and Rory Cameron‘s bass are the understated backbone, crafting the song into something truly special.
A clear-cut and defining example of the shoegaze genre, Crescent should instill you with hope for the future of music. Despite being so young, they clearly know what they’re doing. Carving out their own place in the music industry and with their heartfelt lyricism “you just need time to know if you’re mine / give yourself some grace”, ‘Save Me Now’ is a vulnerable and honest conversation between the band and fans. Served alongside Erin More‘s tantalising vocals, the song is a reflection of the messiness of being human which is far better than trying to follow the current trend of being “perfect”.
Awash with yearning and with their sound being akin to big hitters including KEO and Bloc Party, Crescent are making sure that they’re ones to watch.
