GIG REVIEW | OASIS | @MURRAYFIELD

Britpop legends Oasis performed at Murrayfield, in Edinburgh on Scotlands opening night on the 8th of August 2025 making this their first concert in Scotland for 16 years.

Oasis are a rock n roll band formed in 1991 with the two frontmen Liam and Noel Gallagher. The Mancunian brothers had a major dispute which caused them to disband in 2009 and both have made a shocking and epic comeback 16 years later with a reunion and world tour.

The night started with busy streets of eager fans, old and new, making their way into the stadium. Edinburgh was full of bucket hats, parkers, sunglasses and sambas. First to take the stage was CAST with a solid start with classics such as “Walkaway” and “Alright”. They played flawlessly and set the night for the 90s nostalgia.

Next to take the stage is former frontman of The Verve, Richard Ashcroft who performed hit songs like “lucky man”, “The Drugs Don’t Work” and “Sonnet”. He sang these with his iconic sound of voice and closed his set with “Bitter Sweet Symphony” which had the crowd roaring and ready for this life changing night ahead of them.

The instrumental “F**kin In The Bushes” begins to play and the sound echoes through Murrayfield making their way into crowd fill with euphoria. As Liam and Noel took the stage Liam went straight into the song “Hello” with his distinct voice with the fans singing every lyric with him emphasising the phrase “it’s good to be back”. The gig continued with banger after banger. Liam then tells everyone to put their arms round each other and jump while Noel plays the iconic riff of “Cigarettes and Alcohol” causing the whole stadium to erupt with ecstasy. Noel stands at the mic and performs “Half The World Away”, “Talk Tonight” and “Little by Little” and the whole crowd sings along whilst they were living in the moment. Liam took the mic again and performed hit songs like “Slide Away”, “Live Forever”, “Rock n Roll Star” and “Whatever” then the band left the stage which had the fans chanting for more. After a few minutes Oasis took the stage again and performed their encore of “The Masterplan”, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, “Wonderwall” and finally “Champagne Supernova”. As the night came to an end and the atmosphere was electric, fireworks were going off making the fans fill with emotion and nostalgia and thinking this was a once in a lifetime experience and will remember this night for the rest of their life’s. It was a long time coming for this moment which exceeded the excitements and expectations that had built up around their return.
