SINGLE REVIEW | THEO BLEAK | SPRING SONG

“SOMETHING IN THE AIR I GUESS ,THAWING OUT MY THOUGHTS SOMEHOW”.

Spring Song – Theo Bleak

Arising like the sun after a bleak Dundee winter, artist Theo Bleak has delivered a breezy new track called “Spring Song” which is a continuation from her last season inspired track “Winter Song”.

In words from Theo herself;

“SPRING SONG IS THE NEXT COMMENTARY ON BEING DEPRESSED IN THE MIDST OF ECOLOGICAL COLLAPSE”

Theo Bleak – EPK

Bleak manages to construct a feeling with this song that has became pretty common with us all in the past 2 years with social problems related to Covid-19 and what feels like a worldwide burnout.

“Spring Song” which contains enchanting guitar strumming and drum filled segments that make you manually control your breathing. Bleaks vocals on this track are astonishingly well delivered and layer a more wavy and hushed tone to the instruments that contrast perfectly.

Bleak openly discusses the topic of depression perfectly and how it can make you feel almost invisible, maybe holographic like, in a prison of your own self illusion with sunrise and sunsets similar to those you get in Winter. However as Spring kicks in, the days get easier and more tolerable: a “Second Chance”

To breathe and escape that winter cage. Spring with the addition of flowers and plants blooming, really can feel like a spiritual awakening for those with depression.

Fundamentally I think this is a beautifully crafted song that portrays life in a very simplistic and heartfelt way.

“HEAVY, FULL OF WORRY ILL DROWN IF I STEP INTO THE SEAT”
