SINGLE REVIEW | THE WITS | PERCEPTION

Indie rockers release second single, Perception. The Wits, from Inverclyde, release their second track just in time for their appearance at this years Isle of Wight Festival. The band will play on the This Feeling’s stage, joining many up and coming bands from all over the UK at the festival which is being headlined by the likes of Pulp, Robbie Williams, The Chemical Brothers and George Ezra.

The Wits is comprised of Seanpaul Fabiani (18) as Lead Singer, with Sean Green (17) as Rhythm Guitarist, Gabriel McNelis (17) as Lead Guitarist, Adrian Woodside (17) Drummer and Jude McNelis (15) on Bass. Although young in age, the band holds a very high standard of musical maturity, which has been evident in both releases thus far.

Perception features great guitar runs, snappy rhythmic drums and catchy lyrics. The band make use of using different dynamics, culminating into a rocky, euphoric burst at the end of the track. I especially liked the effects used in the song, with stray guitar sounds giving the track that ‘rough round the edges’ feel that really elevates the listening experience. The artwork for the release is a personal highlight, the edgy style of the band is one that is destined for success.

Speaking to lead singer Sean Paul, he said:

Perception was written in the early stages of the band, and like any new song it was altered and improved frequently. After the first few performances of the song it was evident that Perception had a strong chorus in which the crowd responded well too. This view was echoed by producers Chris Marshall and The Big Day frontman Ryan Hunter who we worked alongside when recording Perception in Castle of doom Studios.

Chris and Ryan were great to work with. They provided unique ideas that helped take Perception to a much higher level than before. We have gained new knowledge and techniques from them that we now incorporate into all of our song writing. We are looking forward to getting back in the studio with the pair.

Overall we wanted to create something that could be considered a pop song with noise and various effects incorporated from the guitars. We are looking forward to The Isle of Wight Festival and larger unannounced gigs, we hope to gain new listeners and fans who share the same passion for Memory and Perception as we do!

The very best of luck to the boys at The Isle of Wight festival and I’m sure I’ll be along to another gig this summer. Check out Perception below!
