SINGLE REVIEW | THE SNUTS | ZUCKERPUNCH

West Lothian’s finest return with their first new music of 2022

On Wednesday The Snuts unleashed a brand new single that has soundtracked my entire week. ‘Zuckerpunch’ marks their first release of the year recorded at Angelic Studios and produced by Detonate and Coffee.

‘Zuckerpunch’ follows last years ‘Burn The Empire’ and is equally as ferocious and charged. The track’s clever lyrics target Mark Zuckerberg, exploring themes of technology and social media and how they are affecting us. Packed with attitude and energy, the new single is yet another evolution of the group’s sound as they prove themselves once again to be one of Scotland’s best young bands. Featuring vibrant vocals, a raw untamed sound and a sick oldschool guitar solo at the end, sonically they are on top of their game.

Vocalist Jack Crochane commented: “Zuckerpunch’s broken beat aesthetic reminisces the sampled-up, 8-track golden age of pre-internet music. Lyrically, everything is derived from feelings of screen fatigue, social media burn out and an overwhelming sense of anxiety about the fast moving internet world that is becoming closer by the day a part of us. It depicts hard hitting messages around the more impactful pitfalls of social media, the internet enmass and the protection of your identity and privacy.”

The Snuts are set to play some of their biggest headline shows to date later on this spring and have been confirmed for various festivals this summer! Don’t forget to check out ‘Zuckerpunch’ on Spotify!
