We’ve all had that feeling the morning after a night on the town. You know the one, good old ‘beer fear’. Maybe you overdid the shots or texted that ex? Regardless of the regret, no rough night can ever be forgotten but who said it can’t have a new perspective? Modern Love’s new track, ‘Ruin Your Night’, is an indie-pop party starter, where the likes of Bloc Party and The 1975 collide. The song kickstarts the heart with punchy drums and sonic guitar sounds, pulling us in for the bittersweet ride of a night out gone wrong.
Vocalist and Guitarist, Barry Lally, sets the scene with powerful lyrics that are self-aware and sentimental. He unapologetically tells the listener “I promise that I didn’t mean to ruin your night/I’m sorry, it’s just what I do” as if we shouldn’t expect change. It hits hard for those familiar with the long nights and fights that fall victim to last orders. With the raw lyrics and upbeat band backing them, this track is so much more under its shiny and sweet surface.
‘Ruin Your Night’ is accompanied by a brand new music video which is such a pleasure to watch! With a contrasting tone, we see the Irish alt-rock band in various venues and greeting plenty of smiling fans. It has a real home video feel as each clip captures its very own unique moment from modernlove.’ headline tour back in November 2022. It’s a beautiful tribute for the fans with stunning visuals and plenty of quirky moments.
