Single Review | David Delinquent & the IOU’s | Too Far Gone

Pop-punk never dies, and David Delinquent & the IOU’s latest single Too Far Gone sits in the heart of this timeless genre.

The Dundee based rock’n’rollers released their third ever single, Too Far Gone. The Dookie Green Day-esque sound is youthful, fun, and everything you could want from a summertime single.

David’s classic whiny pop-punk vocals are a treat to the ears, with the strong drum crashing away really driving home the 2000s skater-punk feel. The nostalgia is intense, the sound creating hallucinations of spiky gelled hair, baggy shorts and ties as thin as a guitar string. Whilst the nostalgia is welcome, there’s a modernness that makes Too Far Gone fresh, interesting, and clean-cut.

Too Far Gone doesn’t feel like a song from a time gone by; rather, David Delinquent & the IOUs are carrying the torch of pop-punk whilst bringing their own unique sound and talents into the genre.

Despite only having a few singles out, the audible confidence in the band’s music shows they’re established as musicians as well as hardy performers. David Delinquent & the IOUs have a great sound and great production; the new single Too Far Gone is proof of that.

They’ll definitely be an act to catch live, so check their social media for any announcements. In the meantime, you can listen to their music on the usual platforms.
