Gig Preview | Royal Blood | Usher Hall

Usher Hall - Royal Blood

“A decade on from their formation, the group continues to grow in popularity.”

Off the back of their fourth consecutive Number 1 album, “Back To The Water Below“, Brighton duo, Royal Blood, embark this Friday on a tour that will see them travel the UK. On Saturday 21st October, drummer Ben Thatcher, and vocalist/bassist Mike Kerr bring their tour to Edinburgh’s Usher Hall. This will be their only Scottish show on the tour, and this one in the Scottish capital isn’t one to be missed.

Royal Blood are no strangers to playing on iconic stages and in memorable venues. Having played support slots for some of the biggest names in music like Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters, and Arctic Monkeys, the blues-rock group have made a name for themselves on big stages. Musically, they share equal success. Every one of their four studio albums hit the Number 1 spot including their debut, self-titled album. This release saw them achieving the fastest-selling rock debut album in the UK by a British group since one three years prior. It also saw them obtain the Best British Group award at the BRIT Awards in 2015.

8 years on from this award, and a decade on from their formation, the group continues to grow in popularity. In July of this year, they continued their live experience at festivals with a slot on the Main Stage at Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival. This adds on from a set they played at Glastonbury, one of the UK’s most recognisable festival names.

The duo have become known for their incredibly catchy and enticing music. While they lack a guitarist, they do not lack the ability to create addictive riffs made possible by bass lines from Kerr that become heavily distorted. Accompanying this unique sound is the powerful, pounding drumming from Thatcher which adds to the emotion behind the bass riffs and words. This has provided Royal Blood with a dedicated fanbase of people who connect to their easily identifiable sound, as well as their often heartfelt and emotive lyrics. With tracks like ‘Figure It Out‘ and ‘Out of the Black‘ reaching just under 230 million and 111 million Spotify streams respectively, it is clear to see just how much fans enjoy their distinctive sound.

Joined by HotWax as their supporting band, this is set to be an unforgettable show. Check out the Instagram post below for more details on how to get the last remaining tickets for the gig!
