The first ever Lunan Fest is set to take place at Lunan House on the first weekend of October. Set on the North East Coast of Scotland in the beautiful bay at Lunan, you can’t get more scenic than that!!!
Lunan Fest is setting out to showcase some of the best things coming out of the Scottish music scene. Bringing in a real mix of genres there will be something for everyone. Tickets are now on sale and if you can’t make all three days (but try because the line up really is class), don’t worry day tickets are avaiable.
Day One
Kicking off the festival on the Friday night is Rebecca Connelly a singer songwriter from Arbroath who has a wealth of experience in performing in Scotland and across the pond in ther US. Coaltown Daises who are a folk and soul duo from Fife, having gigged around the circuit for a long time they are an act not to be missed and will be set to make you tap those feet. Joe Goodall is the latest talented singer/songwriter from the Stirling area, his pop/rock style seems to be getting all kinds of attention just now having just played Belladrum festival and Youth Beatz festival with his band. He’s one everyone is taking about. Lastly and by no means least, headling the Friday evening is Fifes favourite Ginger Nati. Having supported Tide Lines, Skerryvore and Newton Faulkner Nati is no stranger to performing and owning the stage. Having just released her latest single Golden it’s a great time to catch her live.
Day Two
Day two is all about supporting the very local talent. They are well versed and very much liked around the local music scene. Remedy and Sorella will bring fantastic sets with clever harmonies and some of the coolest mash ups while The Mad Feretts will have us up jigging with their high energery contemporary folk. Rhuari Campbell (Slow for a poet) is a talented singer songwriter based in Dundee, creating quick whitted songs whilst also highlighting the struggles of day to day life. Lastly is the local celebrity Calum Campbell who has spent the summer up and down the country at major festivals such as Belladrum and Kendal Calling, Saturday will be a day not to be missed.
Day Three
Headlining for Lunan Fest on Sunday is Cammy Barnes. If you don’t know who this guy is then you must have been hiding under a rock or not paid your TV license. Cammy reached the semi-finals of Britains Got Talent last year and has had a very busy music career since. Playing at major music festivals all over Scotland and his single ‘Bonnie’s Song’ reached number one (ahead of Miley Cyrus) in Summer last year.
Also appearing on Sunday is Ben Walker, a local Montrose lad who has big dreams and keeps smashing goals, giving hope to other budding young musicians across the nation. Ben recently performed at TRNSMT and YNOT festival and is set to appear to support The View in Dundee later this month. Connor Fyfe, a talented singer songwriter and one man band, from Glasgow. Connor no stranger to a festival, having played at Edge Fest, Kendal calling in the past and most recently put on a very great set at Heartland Festival, closing the Discovery Stage on the Saturday night he had everyone dancing along.
Sunday will also feature two very talented ladies, Katie Nicoll (Kirriemuir/Dundee) and Kirsteen Harvey (Glasgow) both have just performed at King Tuts as part of their King Tuts Summer nights events. Katie write catchy indie pop tunes, her latest single Jodi says recently got BBC Scotlad single of the week. Kirsteen Harvey writes gorgeous folk songs, having played Tiree festival this year it will be great to see her on my door step!
I think Lunan Fest is a great opportunity to catch many incredibly talented Scottish bands and artists in one place. The whole weekend is family friendly so bring along the little ones to enjoy the music too.
