The Volts’ sixth single, ‘No One Makes It Out Alive’ expresses discontentment with being stuck in a small town, while showcasing the band’s evolving capabilities.

The song starts off with a slow intro with just vocals and slow electric guitar, which then speeds up before bass and drums are added to the mix. The guitar solo in the bridge is a staple of The Volts’ music and fits in perfectly.

Lyrics like “Now you’re wasting your tomorrow on today” and “When it comes to life / All your thoughts and fears that keep you up at night / Nothing ever happens till you give it time / But no one makes it out alive” prove the band’s songwriting is maturing. Moreover, they show The Volts’ ability to translate their experiences into emotive and relatable lyrics.

On the band’s previous tracks, Jack Mowbray, took the lead on vocals. However, on this track, both Mowbray and Danny Steedman share the role, making this a standout track in The Volts’ discography. This adds an extra dimension to the track, enhancing the harmonies and overall sound of the song.

Make sure you give ‘No One Makes It Out Alive’ a listen when it comes out on the 21st of March. The Volts are also playing a gig to celebrate the single’s release at the Flying Duck in Glasgow that night. Get a ticket now before they’re gone!
