Falkirk indie 4-piece Scout Coast will unveil their debut single Friday 13th February, a sweet and breezy track entitled Nothing Quite Like You.
The new quartet, only formed in 2025, recorded their debut tune at Waterfront Studios in Falkirk, and the production is a real standout on this track. It gives it a great blended mix of an indie DIY feel with enough polish to make it seem like these lads have been around for much longer than they have.
It begins with some fast-paced guitar strums from guitarist Reggie Mercer with lead singer Ollie Kitchen showcasing his range early on, the vocals begin low before getting higher and more emotive in the first 2 verses.
The backing instrumentation is clean and crisp, with bassist Ollie Cobbett laying the foundations and Mercer syncing up with the bass before drummer Dan Rooney crashes into the mix with some tight-knit fills as the chorus begins.

The chorus is reminiscent of some mid 2010’s Stereophonics with the instrumentation and vocals sounding like their track C’est La Vie, and the vibe of this chorus is just as fun.
The band exude confidence on this one with them all playing a major part. Bassist Ollie Corbett towing the line under all the noise, Dan Rooney keeps the groove going with some expert drum work and alongside guitarist Mercer, provides some faint backing vocals before harmonising with Kitchen at the end of the chorus on the blow my mind lines.
Mercer then bursts into a piece of guitar work in the post-chorus that sounds like something you’d here from early Circa Waves or South Coast’s fellow countrymen, Vistas.
The bridge near the end of the song will no doubt have any future live crowds chanting along with the band as they start to repeat the line One one, one in a million before seamlessly transitioning into the final chorus of the song.
As Scotland’s indie scene continues to grow, Scout Coast are striving to bring a new wave of guitar pop bangers to the masses, and with plans to play festivals and tour across the land, they are one to keep an eye on for the future.
