Originally from China, indie-folk singer/songwriter Cici Chen decided to pursue her passion for music when first studying psychology at the University of Edinburgh. Now a music graduate, Cici continues to live in Scotland and releasing music in what she considers to be her second home.
New single To Someone I Loved details the frustration and confusion that can come with love and waiting for someone, unsure of what the other is thinking. Cici’s sweet voice soars across a delicately picked acoustic guitar accompaniment whilst taking the audience through how she is feeling. As the song progresses, well-blended harmonies join from the chorus onwards .
The heartbeat drum pattern in the final chorus is a subtle but powerful build-up to a tuneful instrumental outro. Piano and cello double up on a simple yet effective melody before the final lyric ‘I’m only here to love you’ leaves the listener feeling as if there is still lingering love and more to be said. Overall this is an enchanting track, perfect for a Spring morning.
To Someone I Loved has been newly released on 20th March and you can listen to it here!
